The Department enjoys a long-standing and productive collaboration with numerous agencies, universities and organizations worldwide. The Department is particularly proud of its collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS) in multiple research areas as well as its joint involvement in graduate student training.

Recent Department-wide accomplishments are numerous, but a few highlights are as follows. The cultural background of the faculty now represents every continent on the globe which has lead to a global expansion of teaching, research, and extension programs. Diversification of the student body has followed a similar trend, and the undergraduate program in Entomology has expanded to the point where Texas A&M Entomology educates more than one-third of all entomologists in the United States.

Peer review articles increased from 3.09 per faculty (2006) to 3.45 (2007); an increase of 11.7%. Total publications increased from 183 (past year) to 224 (current year); an increase of 22.4%. Department of Entomology tenured and tenure track faculty rank #1 in term of peer-review publication output in the US (from data published by the Chronicles of Higher Education), and impact factor scores of peer-reviewed publications remain above the average for the discipline (1.2). The Department of Entomology has opened its research expertise to students across the country as it has become the home to the only National Science Foundation funded Research Experience for Undergraduates site in the country development.

In May 2007, the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents approved the offering of a vibrant new undergraduate degree in Forensic and Investigative Sciences to be housed within the Department of Entomology. The curriculum is designed to be accredited by the American Academy of Forensic Science, thus insuring educational prominence and making it the only accredited program in Texas and the Southwest. Fiscal stability has increased through an aggressive and successful development campaign that resulted in over $1 million in new gifts and contributions to various endowments over the last five years.
